The best scientists have spent years analysing redstone and have finally succeeded in isolating the component which transmits redstone energy.
In the highly-refined form of a Beam Core this is capable of creating a field of pure energy. This can then be incorporated into a mechanism to transmit energy over short distances without wires.
Also, according to the latest research, it may be possible, using a synchronised pair of carefully tuned Beam Cores, to transmit (or teleport) an actual living entity. The side effects of teleportation on a living entity are currently unknown ...
