It is also frequently used to craft a variety of machines in Galacticraft. It can be "reinforced" with more wool and aluminum in a crafting table to produce the Heavy Aluminum Wire.
To place wire, simply point at a solid surface, or an electric machine or another wire and right-click. Wires will self-connect if placed next to another wire or electric machine.
No tool is required to break wires.
In original Galacticraft (Galacticraft 1) when paired with Universal Electricity mods, Aluminum Wire had the following characteristics:
- Resistance: 50.0 Ohms
- Max Amps: 200.0 KiloAmps
In Galacticraft 2, the wires also had those electrical characteristics assigned, but Galacticraft's own power system did not use these values, so they had no relevance unless you had another mod which used them.
In Galacticraft 3 and Galacticraft 4, these values are not present at all. The Aluminum Wires themselves have unlimited capacity and will distribute all power that enters them. But every Galacticraft machine (or storage unit) which outputs power has a maximum output rate, and most Galacticraft machines also have a maximum power acceptance rate (normally double their own power consumption).
The advantage of Heavy Aluminum Wire is that a network of Heavy Aluminum Wire enables most Galacticraft machines to run faster or more efficiently.
If used with IndustrialCraft 2 power, the aluminium wires act like 120V wires (thats between copper and gold cable), in IC2 versions which support voltage.
